We proudly feed our BSFL pre-consumed, pre-consumer products such as unsold fruits, vegetables and grains from local farmers markets and grocery stores. The same food you feed your family.
The Sonoma Organic Difference: Unlike many other BSFL and mealworm companies we have a single source where all of our product is produced and manufactured, right here in the USA. Other companies use overseas sources where the items fed to the grubs can vary vastly. Studies have shown that grubs coming from overseas contain high levels of heavy metals including arsenic and lead - NOT what you want your pets and livestock to eat!
Our drying Process: We only use an oven pop method which ensured we keep as many nutrients as possible in our grubs. The result is a nutty smelling crunchy snack that pets go crazy for. Other brands take a shortcut and microwave their grubs which results in a crumbly texture.

Sonoma Organic delivered a huge bag of dried black soldier fly larva right to my door! And gave me a courtesy called to let me know that that they had done that. I absolutely love the service! And the product is wonderful! I had previously purchased a bag of mealworms from a chain store. They had a strange smell. The Sonoma Organic soldier fly larvae smells earthy and good and my chickens absolutely love it! I feel really good giving this treat to them. Thank you, Sonoma Organic!!
My chickens like it but we have notice that our yolks are no longer a deep yellow. they have now been light yellow since starting your treats. Not sure why or what may be lacking in them so we will be researching this before buying anymore.
For 3 years we've been buying dried BSF larvae from a company on the east coast. These cost less and are a little bit bigger! We're supporting a Sonoma, California business and keeping our chickens healthy & happy too!
