Crude Fat 40% min.

Are you certified USDA Organic?

While we are not yet USDA organic certified, we are in the process.  We have developed relationships with incredible USDA organic farmers and food producers in our region who provide us with produce and green materials.  We are grateful to reside in a rich agricultural area like Sonoma Valley where this exchange is possible. Our grubs are always fed in accordance with AAFCO guidelines.

What sustainability practices are you currently involved in?

We started Sonoma Organic because of our passion around regenerative agriculture and the possibility of being at the center of a highly sustainable circular economy. We convert human-grade food waste into valuable nutrients for animal feed and fertilizer, reducing landfill reliance and greenhouse gas emissions. We find deep joy knowing that we are able to supply animal lovers, gardeners and farmers with nutrient rich sustainable solutions.

Is Frass better than chemical fertilizers?

Organic insect frass builds long-term soil health and biodiversity, unlike salts in chemical fertilizers that can degrade soil over time.

What type of species is your BSFL appropriate for?

BSFL is AAFCO approved to feed fowl, swine, fish, sheep, dogs, cats, amphibians and carnivorous plants.

How fast is shipping?

We process orders within 48 hours. Most customers receive their grubs within 5-7 business days across the contiguous USA.

Where do you deliver?

We currently ship to all 50 US states. From our California farm to your doorstep.

What is your return policy?

If your grubs or frass aren't perfect, we offer a 30-day freshness guarantee. Contact us for a full refund or replacement. *Return shipping required.

I am a feed store or distributor, do you offer bulk pricing?

Yes, we offer bulk pricing for individual retail size bags, totes and truckloads. Please contact us directly for more information.

I am a commercial livestock feed producer or pet food ingredient aggregator.  Do you produce enough BSFL to be used in my industry?

Yes. We are continually ramping up our production to meet growing demand.

Do you hold any certificates or accreditations?

Yes, we hold a FDA feed manufacturer license for our facility. We are AAFCO compliant in the feedstock we use for our grubs and we have implemented GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) which is required for all United States commercial livestock feed manufacturers.

This is a point of major differentiation from offshore BSFL producers (China, Mexico, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Canada, etc.) who are not required to comply with the same USA standards.

What type of packaging do your grubs come in?

We package our BSFL with freshness in mind; always in resealable bags so you can feed your fluffy friends as you see fit. Your orders are processed by our small team within 2 business days. We know your flock can't wait for their tasty treats so we try to send them out as quickly as possible.

Why is Sonoma Organic better than brands who use offshore BSFL grub alternatives?

1.  Our feedstock.  The vast amount of organic food waste available in the USA gives us a superior and safe nutrient content. The old adage is true, you get out what you put in!  We ensure AAFCO feedstock compliance to ensure our grubs are only eating pre-consumer food.

2. We go through a rigorous amount of testing that foreign BSFL and mealworms do not. This includes: microbiological testing to ensure salmonella and E. coli are never present; heavy metals analysis to ensure our product does not contain lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury.

3. Our dried grubs are always oven popped and never microwaved.  This ensures a gorgeous golden color, a roasted aroma and a superior nutrient content.

4. We are required to hold Certificates Of Analysis (COA's) to ensure safety and accountability for our consumers.
